Are you suffering with creativity block when you’re trying to produce social media posts?

Social media marketing isn’t usually a core competence or favorite hobby for busy business owners. Here are 6 post ideas to trigger more engagement with your target audience.

1. Case Studies

Selling is telling. The best kind of telling is examples of how your product or service made a measureable improvement in the life of your client.

Write case studies that describe the problem your customer faced and how you solved it for them. If some clients prefer not to be the subject of a case study, will they give you a 2 sentence testimonial and permission to post that?

2. Inspiring Business Quotes

Uplifting & encouraging your target audience with positive messages & images will lift the spirits of your target prospects. Type “inspirational business quotes” in Google Images. Download those that aren’t copyrighted and add your logo to the image.

Find quotes that will help improve the business or personal lives of your target audience. Use quotes that are aligned with your brand and occasionally sprinkle some clean humor in your posts.

3. Social Media Contests

Hosting social media contests can boost online engagement as your audience interacts with your brand. They can be a great source of lead generation as your fans give you their email address for the chance to win a reward.

If the contest is fun or related to a social cause valued by your followers (like the ALS ice water bucket challenge) it can go viral. Customers can take a photo or shoot a video of themselves with your product in unusual places.

Freeing your followers to create their own content in a playful way with your brand can exponentially leverage awareness of you in the market.

Using a hashtag or contest to create user-generated content (UGC) can build a library of posts for you to share later. National Geographic encouraged the photographers who follow them to submit shareable photos that induce wanderlust.  The campaign generated more than 60,000 posts.

4. Industry News

More fans follow brands on social media than follow celebrities. By posting the most current industry news you establish credibility as a thought leader. 80 percent of buyers reported that thought leadership builds trust in a brand.

The reason your audience checks social media numerous times a day is to see breaking news. When you’re the source of informative news your expertise is reinforced in the minds of your buyers.

Being on the alert for news to share may inform you early about changes to your industry. You or your followers can capitalize on those emerging trends in profitable ways to stay ahead of competitors.

5. Infographics

Make the information you want to convey to your audience more visual and easier to understand with infographics. Mix informative statistics with clip art and colorful charts with questions. Include calls to action that bring your prospects into a dialog with you.

As you read web posts about your industry and see infographics you’d like to share, contact the creator and ask permission to re-post them. Infographics are among the most likely posts to be shared and go viral.

6. Social Listening

Monitor digital conversations to learn what people are saying about your company. Use social media to ask your followers what content they want to see. Create what they ask for to increase their engagement and sharing.

Be active on your social channels and respond to questions or comments to build brand loyalty.
